What is your most valuable commodity? What one thing in life when used can not be recreated and used again? What one thing do people regularly give up for something less valuable? The answer is …uninterrupted time.  Once a moment is over, it’s over.  You cannot recreate the exact moment a new mom sees the life that’s been growing in her for 9 months for the first time.  You cannot recreate the moment when a young son rubs his mother’s back during her contractions.  You cannot recreate the exact moment that a new family is formed when a baby is born.  You cannot recreate the moment when a wife grabs her husbands face and says through tears, “We did it!” You can however capture it with your camera and that is why photographing birth is more to me than just picture taking.  It’s slow breathing, taking a walk in the middle of the night, back rubbing, hand sqeezing, tears of joy running down my face, new life in the most natural state, take your breath away story telling.  Thank you for having me there as your new family was made.  Thank you for letting me stop time for you.

Wesley Reed made his grand entrance on a gorgeous spring day this March!  I was so amazed at how calm and patient his mommy was while waiting to have her c-section.  I am always honored when families let me in to capture one of the most amazing days of their lives.  Video slideshow is coming tomorrow.
